Beautifully produced retellings of Shakespeare's play in verse, by Valentine. Includes The Merchant of Venice, A Winter's Tale, The Tempest and The Taming of the Shrew. Sepia toned chromolithographic illustrations throughout plus colour plates done by R. Andre. Decorated end-papers. All edges gilt. No date but c. 1890. 4to. Peculiar damage to one double plate with small portions torn and stuck down, all text legible. Some mild rubbing and bumping to edges. Light tanning to page edges. Contents clean and tight. Good overall.
